The Castello di Tassarolo winery, named after the nearby castle of the historic Spinola family, has been producing wine since the 12th century.
Situated in the heart of Gavi, in Piedmont, the winery turned to biodynamic farming in 2006 in order to preserve nature and offer people healthy wines that have no immediate or long-term negative effects on health.
It was the first company to produce a Gavi without added sulphites in 2007 and to use draught horses in its vineyards in Italy.
It covers 27 hectares, 18 of which are planted with Cortese di Gavi, Barbera and Cabernet Sauvignon.
We believe that creating a wine means following all the processes from the cultivation of the vine to vinification, from bottling to ageing,
being responsible for the whole process.
The company produces certified organic and biodynamic wines with around 60g/l total sulphur dioxide and some wines with no added sulphites.
Recently, we have also achieved vegan certification, as we do not use animal products in our during the vinification process.
Experimentation is a very important part of our company both in the vineyard than in the cellar because without it, it is not possible to progress.
In fact, along with traditional wines, over the years, we have added innovative products that are unique and very successful such as the Spinola Gavi, Cuveè Monferrato Rosso and Ombra, an orange wine in amphora, to name a few.
A return to the distant past revisited to always be in the future is ours philosophy together with respect for life, animals, plants, our employees and our customers. GOOD, CLEAN AND FAIR, the words of Slow Food which are our motto.
