Wine-growing region:
Pfalz

We, that´s Frank and Gerlinde and our children Sebastian and Dorothea, started our winery in 2003 from scratch and work now 10 ha of Riesling, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in the heart of Palatina/Pfalz.

Inspired by the work with traditional methods and processing techniques we produce elegant, wholesome wines full of finesse and great aging potential. They unite good balance with the interplay of mineral nuances, intensity and fullness. Such a quality we achieve by using the best hand–picked grapes of biodynamic cultivation as well as minimalistic work in the cellar and long aging processes in wooden barrels, Amphora and Concrete Egg.

VINYARDS
› more than 50 different plot between Hambach and Leistadt along the “ Mittelhaardt” including steep slope terraces in Neustadt, Grand Cru sites “große Gewächslagen” like Königsbacher IDIG and a plateau in Kallstadt surrounded by a natural sanctuary
› Grapes: no clones, but massal selection, dense planting (up to 12000 plants /ha for the Pinot Noir)
› biodynamic work in the vineyards
› high biodiversity, agroforest, polyculture

VINIFICATION

› long aging process in wooden barrel, Amphora and concrete egg
› spontaneous fermentation

› minimal addition of sulfur before bottling
› high quality natural corks

2023 Pinot Noir Kalkstein

Pfalz
Pinot Noir
Red wine
Demeter certified
Biodinamic

Our Pinot Noir grapes are growing exclusively in the best Palatinate sites known to be rich in limestone. Winemaking follows traditional Burgundian practices; gentle macerations with whole clusters followed by spontaneous malolactic fermentation. Aged 20 months in 500L French Oak barrels, bottled unfiltered. Thus resulting in a clear, highly perfumed and multi-faceted Pinot Noir with layers of depth and complexity. Intense ruby in the glass. In the nose notes of red and black currant. On the palate Morello and blackberry with a fresh and stimulating juiciness. Well incorporate ripe tannins accompany the juicy finish with a velvety note. Natural cork.

2023 Riesling Buntsandstein

Pfalz
Riesling
White wine
Demeter certified
Biodinamic

Hand-picked, short macerations with slower, extended pressing times. Fermentation takes place in 1200L & 2400L neutral barrels and is spontaneous, using only native yeast. Some whole berries remain in the fermenting must to enhance the structure & texture, resulting in a wine full of character with excellent aging potential. Following fermentation, the wines stay on their lees for one full year, allowing for a natural self-clarification process to take place which also contributes to the complex nature of our wines. Bright golden yellow with green reflections. In the nose a touch of flint, aromas of perfect ripe and healthy fruits, zests of clementine, green apple and nutty and herbal nuances. A youthful wine with lively and well buffered rich, juicy, animating acidity. Dense and powerful on the palate, with fruitiness reminiscent of apricot, fine minerality, with grip! Creamy, yet silky structure. Long saline and crunchy finish. Natural cork.

2020 Riesling Amphore

Pfalz
Riesling
White wine
Demeter certified
Biodinamic

Our first wine aged in an amphora; this 100% Riesling was made from hand-picked Riesling grapes that fermented and matured spontaneously for two years in an amphora under the open sky. Thanks to the extended lees aging, we were able to bottle this wine with a brilliant, light colour and without filtration. The wine was bottled by hand directly from the amphora in our courtyard and sealed with a high-quality cork. 640 hand-numbered 0.75-liter bottles and 12 magnums are now available as a "late release." On the palate, the wine is yellow-fleshed and slightly mineral. Notes of rosemary freshness and sage spice mingle with hints of wet stone. The cool fruit and refined acidity make this Riesling timeless. A wine with great tension, power, and yet already remarkable balance. Natural cork Alc. 12.5% vol. Residual sugar: 1.1 g/L Acidity: 6.5 g/L Unfiltered and lightly sulfured

2023 Riesling Königsbach

Pfalz Königsbach
Riesling
White wine
Demeter certified
Biodinamic

The 2023 Königsbach Riesling is the first release from younger vines in the "grand cru" vineyards of Idig (on calcareous marl with sandstone on top) and Ölberg (pure sandstone). Vinified in 500-liter tonneaux for 20 months, the intensely yellow-colored wine opens with a deep, intense and complex, iodine-scented tone of pastry, candied lemon zests, wet sandstone, ripe apricot aromas and a generally warm or soulful tone. Very elegant, refined and fresh on the charming first palate, this full-bodied and vivacious Riesling is dense, saline and sustainably structured and carries its serious substance on the wings of crystalline and "mineral" acidity. It has tension, which gives structure (salt and grip), and very elegant and savory fruit. This Königsbacher Riesling is impressively long, intense, complex and super saline but also aromatic (instead of fruity) on the finish, and it develops a chalky layer on the aftertaste. This is a very impressive firstling for this charismatic family domaine in Neustadt-Königsbach. It was bottled in November 2025 after 24 months on the full lees, with no fining and no filtration. 11% stated alcohol. Natural cork.
