At Azienda Agricola Foradori, a fourth generation of vignerons are working to grow plants that maintain their natural expressivity. Located in Mezzolombardo (Trento) in the heart of Campo Rotaliano surrounded by the Dolomites, the estate was built in 1901 and has been carried on by the Foradori family from 1939. Since then we have been working to valorize the ancient local variety Teroldego, and from 2002 we have implanted biodynamic agriculture.

Following the footsteps of Elisabetta Foradori and Rainer Zierock, today their children Emilio, Theo and Myrtha Zierock continue in their footsteps.

Aside from wine our focus is also in cultivating vegetables and breeding Tyrolean Grey cattle for cheese production.

The hill overlooking Trento, with its clayey-limestone soils, welcomes the Manzoni Bianco
and matures the grapes in late September. The character of the Fontanasanta vineyards
is expressed through this hybrid, born of a mix of Riesling with Pinot Bianco.
Its ability to evolve overtime requires patience; Fontanasanta Manzoni Bianco is a wine
that really comes into its own at least three years after harvest.

Fuoripista is a different kind of wine that takes an alternative route and has a different approach
towards nature.
This wine is the result of a collaboration between Foradori and Marco Devigili, biodynamic
winemaker from Campo Rotaliano, and aims to express the true
essence of this variety, widespread in the Trentino region.
The wine spends more than 8
months on the skins inside Tinajas (amphorae) allowing the delicate character of Pinot Grigio
to reveal.

2023 LEZER

The idea of creating a light Teroldego to celebrate the summer was something that interested us for some time but it wasn’t until the hail storms of August 2017, which destroyed 40% of our harvest that we decided to have a go. From the small amount of fruit harvested from the damaged vines we were able to piece together a number of vinification tests with short maceration processes to make Lezèr. We undertook various batch tests in amphorae, wood, cement and steel, never leaving the grapes on the skins for more than 24 hours.
This wine was born with the spirit of experimentation and continues to develop in this way.
Overseeing the various developments that take place in each vintage, each year we experiment with the addition of full bunches and changing containers, along with tweaking our techniques and timings for short maceration.

The Campo Rotaliano is a well-demarcated geographical area, a sort of indentation of the
Valle dell’Adige, wedged between the mountains.
Its history and formation are linked to the Noce River, which for centuries has carried limestone,
granite and porphyritic debris.
Within this small plain, depending on the basic soil content, it is possible to differentiate micro
zones that have been given different names by the winemakers.
It is through gathering together the grapes of some of these micro zones, characterized by
predominantly sandy soils and with different quality requirements that the “Foradori” is born.

The results obtained through years of biodynamic farming and observing stability in the
vineyard emphasized the character of each plot of land and made us realize that we would
need to undertake a separate vinification across two vineyards.
Through the use of amphorae (Tinajas from Villarrobledo, Spain), with their particular shape
and the porosity of the clay that they are made of, the winemaking process is undertaken with
purity and balance. The process of turning grapes into wine is not effected by outside influences;
the amphora acts as a shield, allowing the grapes to progress with only the character of the
earth and grape variety as their guidance.
Morei means ‘moro’ or ‘dark’ in the Trentino dialect and the grapes cultivated in this vineyard
are a firm echo of this. Their roots rest among the pebbles and the sand in the earth carried by
the Noce River, cultivating
wines with a texture of minerality and density. Morei
Teroldego resumes form and is reborn amplified and transformed.

Grapes and pomegranate have common origins and are often found growing together in the
Mediterranean basin. The pomegranate fruit also possesses the charm, beauty and intensity
of grapes.
It is thanks to this union that the name ‘Granato’ derives, the name of a Teroldego of a
particular concentration and density that sinks its roots into the stones of the three vineyards
in Campo Rotaliano.
