Blaufränkisch
Red wine

Single vineyard, single barrel. The most concentrated Blaufränkisch as a pure gift of terroir. Incredible grapes from my 65 year old vineyard fuse with the sheer power of double planted vines. Probably the most extreme version of high density planting, the double plant system creates a maximum of competition between the vines. Planted in pairs of 2, closely side by side, stimulates them to root into deeper layers of the soil in the endeavour to find water and nutrients. The deeply branched root system picks up incredible amounts of minerals on the way up into the plant. The impact on the grapes is substantial and all we can wish for: smaller, loose-hanging grapes, full of naturally concentrated flavours and balanced mineral acidity guarantee for freshness at a superb high level of aromatic ripeness. The perfect exposition facing the lake on the one side and the cooling forest on the other lends an extra helping hand in growing intense flavours and vivid yet deep inner strength. A glance at the shimmering iron-oxide-schist all over the soil awakens the inner magpie-eye and stimulates the tastebuds for a smoky grilled piece of meat. Darkness and a bloody, flinty, generous fruit meet in a lively pair run with crushing mineral driven acidity. Stemmy, coating tannins melt away, clearing the stage for the final highlight: there it is again, the chalk hidden in the depth of the soil giving the extra grip, holding on tight to your palate like the mighty claw of a bengal tiger.
