A mere 2 kilometres separate our two locations and thus alsoour local vineyards – but what happens above and below thesacred earth covering these few metres could almost be describedas mystical.Or even “arg” – mad. It just doesn’t sound quite international.Whatever.Both local wines are characterised by their striking finish, their freshness and tension. Deutsch Schützen applies a littlemore pressure, intensively herby, earthy. An athletic Blaufränkischbearing ripe, dark berries in its deep blue veins.Eisenberg is a little more thoughtful. Always a little lighter, with vigorous tannins, a hint of liquorice, a drop of citrus andmajor substance.EisenbergAge of the vines: 30 – 45 yearsSoil: ferrous green schist with a layer of loam & gravel
