Claire and Gonzague Lurton come from the third and fourth generations respectively of two of the great wine families of the Bordeaux region, the Merlauts and the Lurtons. In 1992 and 1993, they took over the reins of their respective family estates and now own five châteaux, including three grands crus classés: Chateau Durfort Vivens, Ferrière and Haut-Bages Liberal. But also Château La Gurgue in Margaux and Acaibo, in Sonoma, California.
In 2007, Gonzague and Claire converted their Bordeaux estates to biodynamic and agro-ecological methods, and now have the largest biodynamic vineyard in Bordeaux.

With a vineyard planted predominantly with 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, the estate seeks to fully explore the purity and richness of this emblematic grape variety. Château Ferriere relies on biodynamic viticulture to reveal the finest expression of the Margaux terroir. In the cellar, alternative vessels such as amphorae and raw concrete tanks are used to interfere as little as possible with the fruit, following a simple philosophy: the less the wine is manipulated, the more clearly its essence can be tasted. The 2019 vintage stands out as a true burst of freshness, offering remarkable fruit brightness and exceptionally elegant tannins.

Benefiting from the same technical team as Château Ferriere, Château La Gurgue maintains consistent quality year after year.
