Anna turned the page, shifting from the past's more conventional and intensive form of farming towards holistic, regenerative, and organic agriculture, a return to the roots of the old farm.
Cortes de Cima is no longer just a wine-producing estate but a herdade that also makes wine. It transitioned from monoculture to polyculture and decreased the total vineyard area from 240 to 99 ha of vineyards.
The focus is on biodynamic wisdom, going for manual viticulture, reducing irrigation, and restoring the soil. The animals are back. Geese, chickens, sheep, donkeys, and cows naturally fertilize the soil to minimize the need for weed control and fertilizers.
The team developed an in-depth study of the soil at the estate and reduction of vineyard area, focusing on the vineyards with the highest quality potential and the ability to express their terroir.
Old and indigenous vines are being revived. Preserving genetic diversity brings resilience and greater identity to the wines. In Cortes de Cima, the aim is to make fresh and elegant wines in a warm climate, showcasing the diversity of the terroirs and preserving the vitality that comes from thoughtful farming practices.
The goal is to inspire others through the transparency of their words and actions, commitment to change, and passion for the land.
Vinho Regional Alentejano
A blend of 60% Syrah, 20% Touriga Franca, 10% Trincadeira, 10% Alicante Bouschet.
Red wine
The 2nd generation of our all-time classic. A multilayered blend that expresses the freshness and elegance of a new Alentejo — the result of our first year of regenerative organic farming, respectful pruning, drastically reducing the irrigation and using less intervention in the cellar.
The 100% estate grown fruit was handpicked at night and fermented spontaneously with 30% whole bunches using gentle extraction. Aged in old French oak for 12 months before blending and spending at least another 12 months in inox before bottling at the estate.
Juicy and bright red fruits, interlaced with savory spice and an herbal garrigue lift held within an elegant frame.
Vinho Regional Alentejano Biológico
A blend of 50% Sauvignon Blanc, 25% Alvarinho, 20% Moscatel, 5% Loureiro
White wine
Bright, vibrant with tropical notes of pineapple, lychee, and guava intermingled with fresh lemongrass. The juicy fruit driven palate is quite textural, with a crunchy acidity and a lingering saline finish.
Site: From our vineyards located just 3km from the Atlantic Ocean, near Vila Nova de Milfontes.
Farming: Regenerative organic
Soil: Sandy, silty gravels
Vinification: Handpicked and transported in a cool truck to the winery in Vidigueira. Hand sorted and slowly whole-bunch pressed, after a light decantation it fermented using indigenous yeast in stainless steel tanks. The Moscatel fermented with the skins, in inox and in talha (local amphora) before pressing and blending. Full malolactic conversion was allowed to happen.
Aging: 14 months on fine lees in stainless steel tank
Vinho Regional Alentejano

Vinho Biológico
A blend of 60% Syrah and 40%. Viognier
Red wine
A collaboration between 3 friends – Anna Jørgensen and Daniel and Kalina Niepoort, which falls into the NatCool umbrella.
Inspired by local ancient vinification techniques, Palhete is the traditional Portuguese designation of a wine made from both white and red grapes, as the old vineyards were often mixed field blends. Since the Romans were in our region thousands of years ago, we have been vinifying wines in Talhas, the local name for clay amphora. This is a refreshed tribute to our local winemaking heritage.
A flintstone reduction dissipates to reveal gorgeous aromas of red cherries and raspberries. The red fruits carry on to the juicy palate intermingles with herbaceous undertones. Fresh, vibrant and briming with energy.
