After finishing his undergraduate degree in Oenology in 2005 and spending two vintages gathering work experience in New Zealand and Australia, Alexander returned to his native Vienna to partner with his uncle in growing his small family estate. During the next twenty years, Alex would grow become a general manager and shareholder, growing the winery into a successful brand with export in 25 countries and leading its transition to organic agriculture in 2014 and a biodynamic certification in 2018. His experience working toward a more conscious, environmentally-responsible inspired him pursue ROA certification, which the winery achieved in early 2024, becoming the first regeneratively certified winery in Europe. After parting ways with his uncle and the family estate in July 2024, Together with his wife Hilary, Alex is looking forward to a bright future in the wine world, combining his passions for low intervention winemaking with strong beliefs in the regenerative, organic, and biodynamic agriculture movements.
The convivial nature of wine is why we’re here. We’re here because we love vineyards, the people that take care of them, and the way the fruits of their labor result in wines that bring us together around a table — ideally with some delicious food coming right up.
The joy of introducing our family, friends and partners to a beautiful bottle is what drives us and has helped us arrive at our concept, modeled on the originally Burgundian “micro-négoce.”
Wine evolves. So do winemakers. I’m grateful and humbled by this opportunity, presented at the start of each vintage, each season, each new chapter of life. What have I learned? Has maturity been reached? What can I do better?
2025 Demeter Retzer Land Gemischter Satz Alte Reben

This Demeter certified Gemischter Satz was hand harvested on September 17th with 7,4 g/l acidity. It comes from sandstone and granite soils with a limestone top soil. The wines are 65 years old and therefore had no problem with the wet summer of 2025. This terroir lends the wine a unique minimality that compliments the field blend based primarily on Grüner Veltliner, Pinot blanc and Chardonnay. Tasting notes: intense exotic and citrus fruit with apricot aromas dry taste with well integrated acidity and fruity taste with crisp, fruity notes. complex finish due to its time on the skins (24 hours) before pressing. Winemaking: 24 hours skin contact spontaneous fermentation in 50% 1200l Stockinger barrels/ 50% stainless steel tank and 6 months on the fine lees, minimal sulfuring and no filtration or fining before bottling;

This organic Pinot Blanc was hand harvested on August 28th in 2024 with a crisp acidity and only 12.5% potential ABV. It comes from Dolomiten sandstone and gravel soils with high amounts of iron in the ground. This terroir lends the wine a unique minimality that compliments the long lees aging and 65 year old vines. Tasting notes: creamy complex aromas like red apples and citrus fruit with fine texture from 12 months lees aging in 300l barrels. bone dry taste with crisp acidity and elegant fruity flavors with spicy notes. fruity and complex finish; Winemaking: whole bunch pressing, spontaneous fermentation in 100% 300l Stockinger barrels and 12 months on the fine lees, minimal sulfuring and no filtration or fining before bottling;

This terroir lends the wine a unique freshness that compliments the 80 year old vines. Tasting notes: intense cassis and exotic fruit aromas reminiscent of Sauvignon Blanc, bone dry taste with well balanced acidity and complex fruity taste with spicy notes. well structured with a long finish; Winemaking: 12 hours skin contact in press, spontaneous fermentation in 100% 600l Stockinger barrels and 6 months on the fine lees, minimal sulfuring and no filtration or fining before bottling;
