There are things that deserve no compromises. The environment, family, friends – and Blaufränkisch.

Deutsch Schützen and Eisenberg. For us, these are the best of all soils. Where our grapes come from. The source of our wines. The backbone of all that we do.

Yes, we do our own thing. And no, we don’t compromise. But we still have a lot of friends. Or perhaps that’s why we do.

Blaufränkisch is our passion. We truly love love. Only loving what you do makes you go the extra mile that matters. That makes something special into something great.

2023 Béla-Jóska

Eisenberg DAC
Blaufränkisch
Red wine
Biodinamic

A wine that, year after year, is as fresh and motivating as the two ancestors once were. Béla, that is. And Jóska. As zesty as a stimulating Gamay, yet about as in touch with its roots and typical as a Deutsch Schützen/Eisenberg terroir wine can get. A piercingly direct Blaufränkisch experience without frills. Blueberries, cherries, pepper. Focused, convivial, with a ruthlessly refreshing directness. Your best girlfriend, who always tells you the truth – even if she is a he. So to speak. Age of the vines: 15 – 45 years Soil: ferrous loam and clay, green schist

2022 Eisenberg

A mere 2 kilometres separate our two locations and thus also our local vineyards – but what happens above and below the sacred earth covering these few metres could almost be described as mystical. Or even “arg” – mad. It just doesn’t sound quite international. Whatever. Both local wines are characterised by their striking finish, their freshness and tension. Deutsch Schützen applies a little more pressure, intensively herby, earthy. An athletic Blaufränkisch bearing ripe, dark berries in its deep blue veins. Eisenberg is a little more thoughtful. Always a little lighter, with vigorous tannins, a hint of liquorice, a drop of citrus and major substance. Eisenberg Age of the vines: 30 – 45 years Soil: ferrous green schist with a layer of loam & gravel

2022 Ried Weinberg

Eisenberg DAC
Blaufränkisch
Red wine
Biodinamic

A darker twist on the ever-sunny southern Burgenland. Very present, yet always elegant herbal spice. The dark aura of dark berries flows through the room, flanking those who walk beside it. A sour cherry tartlet rests on an old wooden table. Old, but good. The red loamy soil of the south-facing Ried Weinberg vineyard inevitably whisks the mind away to puristic Baroli made in the traditional style. Punchy tannins bring Baroque and tanned shoulders into play. And a delicate golden necklace. The locals’ true local mountain. For all this dark fruit, the sun still shines through. On the terrace, a portable record player. Rocket Man. One more glass. Do you doubt it? Age of the vines: over 50 years Soil: deep ferrous loam

2022 Ried Ratschen

Eisenberg DAC
Blaufränkisch
Red wine
Biodinamic

What the color purple tastes like. Violet petals on the palate, silky smooth. Finely interwoven tannins, dancing acidity, and then a rush of complex fruit components. Redcurrant, raspberry, ... If one had vampiric tendencies, one might also suggest a hint of very fresh blood. We note: if! Ratschen, always a little cooler than Weinberg, always a later harvest. An evening stroll in liquid form; work is done and it’s the shimmering end of the 70s. A great Blaufränkisch to drink while standing and meandering. And while talking. While listening to music, it goes without saying. This wine is light in a bottle. Age of the vines: over 50 years Soil: a layer of loam on red sand and clay
