Champagne
Champagne Tarlant is based in Oeuilly, 12 kilometers west of Epernay. Growers since 1687, elaborating wines of Champagne from centuries using their own grapes exclusively. The vineyards on slopes were planted by Tarlant ancestors on the best soils: from Campanian Chalk to Lutetian Hard Limestone, with the benefit from the river advantage. Today the domaine is managed by Melanie and Benoit, the 12th generation of the family. Tarlant cultivates the seven grape varieties of Champagne: Meunier, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Petit Meslier, Arbanne, Pinot Blanc, and Fromenteau. In the vineyards the organic approach protects and promotes sustainable biodiversity, the use of herbotherapy, and minimal intervention in soils. No chemicals, herbicides and insecticides. Fermentations are spontaneous and terroir-focused, rigorously traditional in small wood barrels, accompanied by amphoras for a tiny part. Made as Tarlant great-grandparents, grandparents, and parents taught, the long familial history allows releasing their Champagnes after long aging on lees. Tarlant Champagnes are produced traditionally without dosage in order to preserve the real taste of champagne
