Wine-growing region:

Château Mazeyres is the fourth largest estate in Pomerol covering some 25.57 hectares (63 acres). The vineyard stretches over three distinct types of terroir to the west and to the south of the appellation : fine grave! with a little clay, giving fine, linear wines; then sand and clay in the south, which offer wines that are fleshy and round; and at the bottom of the plateau, the clay soils bring
more tight-knit and tannic wines. The Merlat grape is predominant, along with a growing propotion of Cabernet Franc, as well as some Petit Verdet. Alain Moueix has pursued his wine-growing convictions in total freedom: in the field of organic-growing, trials were introduced in 2010, leading to the completion of organic conversion in 2015. Then in the practice of biodynamic growing, which culminated in the first certified vintage being made in 2018. A vine-growing approach which, in the words of the director, "brings more freshness, relief and life to the wine". Alain Moueix's decision to choose biodynamic growing is not an end but instead a means : the means to go further in the search for harmony, which is central to his philosophy. Harmony in the vineyard, during the vinification and in the blend. Harmony between fruit aroma. tannins and oak. Harmony is also reached through the different containers used for the ageing : alongside traditionnal barrels are now concrete egg-shaped vats, foudres and amphoras. Everything perfectly integrated in order to
achieve an unity.

2019 Château Mazeyres

80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc
Red wine

Château Mazeyres 2019 has a deep cherry color with purple hints. It unveils a fruity bouquet (red and dark fruits), with a touch of warm milk and soft spices. The palate offers the same aromatic characteristics, as well as santalwood notes. The whole has a fresh, delicate and elegant structure. The finish has a lingering salinity. This vintage is highly seductive. It has both Mazeyres’ elegance and charm

2020 Château Mazeyres

72,5% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, 2.5% Petit Verdot
Red wine

Château Mazeyres 2020 has a deep color with purple shades.
The nose is complex and intense, with notes of black fruits, sweet spices, a hint of cedar, also a root dimension remembering iris' notes. After a while, it becomes more ethereal and evokes juniper and gingerbread. It provides a creamy impression that we can find in the mouth. The promise is kept with fine, elegant tannins, a beautiful structure and above all a smooth and slender texture. The tactile sensation is lining and creamy. The finish is very long and dynamic, marked by a saline expression associated with black fruits. Undoubtedly the best wine produced by Château Mazeyres to date.
