A riveting reinterpretation of an age-old discovery unfolds at Heitlinger winery – where modern Pinots perfectly reflect their terroir. Dating back to the 12th century, the discerning Cistercian monks unearthed the unique terroir of the calcareous hills of the Kraichgau. Reclaiming abandoned, historically steep slopes has been nothing short of a viticultural renaissance.
Since its first mentioning in 1251 Burg Ravensburg has been a witness to winemaking history in Kraichgau. A sprawling 35 hectares of vineyards, encircling the castle, serve as the canvas for extraordinary wines. At Burg Ravensburg, the combination of biodynamic principles and technical progress stands for contemporary agriculture in the heart of Baden.

The vineyard owes its name to the numerous larks that grow in and around the vineyards. The vineyards are located on the southern flanks of the Kraichgau hills. Citrus, grapefruit and a beautiful concentration on the palate with a fine interplay of fruit, minerality and a fresh acidity.

The south-south-east facing Kapellenberg vineyard was already discovered for viticulture by the Romans. The Benedictine monks of the Wigoldesberg monastery already regarded the site as one of the best vineyard locations in Kraichgau. Our highest and steepest vineyard is located above the village of Eichelberg on a ridge crowned by a mixed beech-oak forest. The speciality of the soil is the 160 million year old Stubensandstein with volcano that only occurs there. The high proportion of sandstone results in a very barren soil. Kapellenberg shows aromas of passion fruit, lime and mango, combined with a fine acidity and minerality

Chardonnay
White wine
Grown on pale chalky limestone marl soils. Barrel aged. Straw yellow with notes of cedar sponge cake, ripe pears and apricot, pink grapefruit, dried herbs and nuances of essential oils. Complex, dense and powerful. Beautifully balances, precise with an exceptional acidity and a long finish.

Pinot Noir
Red wine
The grapes come from young, biodynamicly cultivated vineyards in prime locations. Significantly reduced use of wood, delicate fruit aromas and a surprisingly dense structure for the youthfulness of the vines guarantee a perfect addition to the Heitlinger range. Placed just below the GGs, it represents a distinctive and very individual style

Red wine
The grapes are gently harvested in several stages to ensure that only ripe and healthy berries arrive in the cellar. At the estate, they are carefully sorted and fermented in wooden casks. The goal is to produce an elegant, long-lasting Pinot Noir with a fine tannin structure and clear-cut fruit.

Red wine
The grapes are gently harvested by hand in several stages to ensure that only ripe und healthy berries arrive in the cellar. At the estate, they are carefully sorted, and as whole berries and clusters, fermented in small batches in wooden casks. The goal is to produce intensely fruity, complex, and long-lasting Spätburgunder wines with a fine tannic structure. Malolactic fermentation takes place in used barriques in which the wines mature for 8-12 months. This lends them a fine, spicy hint of wood and roast aromas that beautifully mingle with the wine’s pronounced fragrance of cherry, plum, and black currant.
