Katrin & Kurt Feiler are today the third generation running the Feiler-Artinger Winery. It’s located in an old baroque building in the heart of the free town of Rust. 26 hectares of vines grow on the gentle slopes of the Ruster Hügelland, a chain of hills surrounding the village. The soils are rather light and sandy both micashist and fossile limestone (e.g. on vineyard “Oberer Wald”) motherrock.
The mowing of our green ground cover in the vineyards in winter by their three cows is unique in Austria. To help bees and other insects, and to increase biodiversity, they have planted the traditional peach trees in their vineyards once again. About 1000 of them flower year after year, attracting animals and more.
