Cantine Franco was founded in Valdobbiadene in 1919 by Antonio, who set out right from the start to make a quality product. With his son Nino, who carried on the tradition, the winery grew, consolidated and expanded.
But it was Primo, first with his father Nino and later alone, who modernised the winery. From the moment he entered the winery, after earning his diploma at the Conegliano Veneto school of enology, Primo focused his work on a precise quality model he had got to know during his travels and study. At the beginning of the 90s, convinced that you need to control production right from the origins to obtain a good wine, Primo took over the running of a vineyard where he experimented with new planting techniques and the use of old clones. Meanwhile he continued his close collaboration with local producers, to develop his idea of promoting this grape.
Primo is supported by his wife Annalisa, who devotes almost all her time to Villa Barberina, and by his daughter Silvia in production, strategy and sales.

Coming from the middle elevation hills of the classic area
of Prosecco, Rustico is how we make ourselves known.
It is one of Nino Franco’s historic wines, produced since the
1970s, and was initially a Prosecco «aged on its lees» before
becoming a Charmat Method sparkling wine in 1979.
Its freshness and drinkability combine with an excellent floral
bouquet. An outstanding aperitif and an ideal pairing to
delicate appetizers.

Nino Franco Brut exclusively comes from grapes grown
on high hills in the historical Prosecco production area.
This elegant cuvée is dedicated to Giovanni Franco, known
as Nino, son of the winery’s founder, Antonio: creamy,
with fine and persistent bubbles, as well as an incredible
savory note.

A single-vineyard Prosecco from Riva di San Floriano, in the
Valdobbiadene municipality. The rows grow on high slopes
that require strenuous manual work and constant presence
in the vineyards. A decisive and elegant sparkling wine,
truly identitary, the authentic fruit of the “rive” where the
vine, under constant stress due to the difficult pedological
conditions, yields its best fruits.

«Nodi» refers to the knots of the vine stocks that yield this
single-vineyard Prosecco. With more than a hundred years of
age and belonging to clones that have long been planted, these
stocks are now propagated directly in the vineyard through
grafting. The name also refers to the «knots» of the wind
that constantly caresses the rows. A very elegant, velvety and
characteristic Prosecco that is tightly linked to the noblest and
gentlest expression of Glera.

The grapes of Grave di Stecca come from a particular vineyard
in Valdobbiadene, the only one of its kind in the whole area
of Prosecco. Enclosed by a high stone wall that shields it from
the outside environment, it is similar to a French clos, a fenced
vineyard. The area’s soil and microclimate yield a sparkling wine
with extraordinary characteristics: profound and complex, hints
of ripe fruit harmonically combine with nuances of aromatic
herbs and intense mineral notes. Our outstanding Spumante.

The producer’s first signature wine, the first Prosecco with
the vintage on the label (1983), sealed with a brace and not a
muselet. A surprising, authorial and intimate sparkling wine
that has revolutionized the history of Prosecco.
